BRING JOY TO FAMILIES BY GIVING US YOUR DISCARDED GOODS
Dear Sir/Madam
Give us some of the things that you normally throw away. By doing just that you would bring joy and cheer to many a family in Singapore.
We at Crime Library (Singapore) hope to sell the discarded items you give us to raise funds for our activities centered on reuniting families with their loved ones who go missing.
We go all out to help any family or individual who comes to us for help to find the missing. We also help locate witnesses and gather information needed in cases of unsolved crimes and traffic accidents. Our aim is also to help prevent crime by raising awareness about crime through publicity. Since it was formed in 2001, Crime Library has helped locate 200 missing people and reunite at least 20 biological families with their kin.
Among the notable cases of such biological reunions were those of IT Manager Willa Mak and property agent Hayati Jantan. Madam Mak was reunited with her biological mother after almost 40 years while Madam Hayati, Chinese by origin but given away, to a Malay family when she was a baby, was reunited with her biological siblings after 46 years.
Our role is complementary to that of the police and we carry out our work in full cooperation with the authorities. We believe that the kith and kin of anyone who goes missing and victims of crime need the support and help of not only law enforcement agencies but also of the public and compassionate volunteers. Our efforts, when blessed with success, mean happiness for families in distress. By donating just your throwaways you take part in that happiness. We give below a list of items we collect for raising funds.
Please note that Crime Library (Singapore) is a non-profit, victim support organization. It was officially registered as a Charity in accordance with Sub-section (5) of Section 5 of the Charities Act (Chapter 37) on 26 October 2005. We request you to hand over your spoilt goods to our founder, Mr Joseph Tan's recycling company, Recycling Dot Com, as proceeds from the discarded goods after recycling costs come to Crime Library.
We appeal to you in all sincerity to spare a thought for the missing or those who fall victim to crime or accidents. Anyone can go missing at any time, anyone can be the target of crime, and anyone can be involved in an accident. Timely help can prevent an avoidable tragedy or blossom into unforgettable joy.
You could choose to bring forth that timely help by giving us your support. We welcome financial donations but we believed discarded goods given to us also help us to carry on our work.
We seek to emphasise that your waste in our hands will not go waste. We will make maximum possible use of the disccarded items you give us to raise funds for our work directed at helping families in distress.
